The synergy between Ahern and Bayer's vegetable seed division is an example of the extensive work we have done in Mexico.
"The support Ahern has shown for all Seminis/DeRuiter materials has been very important, characterized by constant innovation, hybrids of excellent growth potential and a high-quality post-sales support to the grower. Ahern is not only a seed distributor, it is also a service provider," says Omar Castro, Sales Manager México Norte de Seminis/DeRuiter.
The experience of winter tomatoes and shade houses of Ahern in Baja California Norte has contributed to the success of
DeRuiter's Multifort rootstock, which allows the farmer to work with different types of varieties and is the most stable rootstock according to results in the field.
In the south, where production has flourished in a high-tech controlled environment, the benefits of this co-operation has been particularly reflected in the pepper market; a crop in which Seminis has worked with materials such as
Darsena and
SV9908PB. In the production of this crop in the open field in Sinaloa, this same synergy has been so successful that the hybrid
SV1675PB has become an Ahern exclusive.

Together we have developed new varieties in many segments such as: tomatoes, hot peppers, onions, squash, bell pepper. We are always looking for added value for the producer, a profit in greater yield, better resistances, and, above all, a better quality final product.
"Ahern is a company in constant growth and with opportunities in new markets," says Castro.
Andres Revollo, Leader of Customer Experience for North America and Marketing Operation, mentions that in recent years the increase in the participation of Seminis in the onions market in Northern Mexico has been highlighted. Through Ahern’s experience and knowledge we can offer hybrids of very good quality to the farmer, with the vision to analyze new options and alternatives for the market.
"Ahern without a doubt, is Seminis' best distributor in Mexico," says Revollo.
